Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her childhood was spent in a home that included four brothers. Though she had a dream of becoming a journalist, it wasn't until high school that Delaney began to model. Following her move from New York City and gaining experiences as a commercial model and commercials in New York did she achieve an aspiring career as court reporters. Her first job as an actor was as a young girl in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress who has been featured in a variety of television shows, and dramas. Her career as a professional has been much more lucrative than her personal life. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism in the past as well as two failed marriages. In 2005, she lost custody over her only son.
